Tools required for install:
Phillips Head screwdriver. Needle nose pliers. Ruler (optional).

Case Disassembly:
After the case has been removed from the cardboard packaging, it must be disassembled before components can be added. First, remove the 8 thumbscrews from the back of the case, and gently slide off the two side panels. Be careful when handling the acrylic, as it is easily scratched or cracked.

Then proceed to slide out the motherboard tray, and place it to the side.

Inside the case, there should be a cardboard supply box with: Screws. A diagram of case parts. A top fan holder/front panel installation guide. A back plate for pass-thru cables. A 5.25" and a 3.5" front face plate.

After all these parts have been disassembled, you may now begin adding components.

Installing a Power Supply:
If a power supply wasn't ordered with the case then, you will have to install one.
Lift the power supply up into the guide and let it rest on the two side supports. Be sure to have it correctly aligned to the screw holes in the back.

Included in the cardboard supply box are six extra thumbscrews, four of which will be used to secure the power supply. While still holding the power supply with one hand, use the other to screw in the thumb-screws.

Installing the Motherboard:
Before installing the motherboard onto the motherboard tray,
the brass motherboard standoffs included in the bag of screws must be attached. Using the holes in your motherboard as a guide (A ruler can be used if needed), install the respective standoffs in the motherboard tray by screwing them in with your hands and tightening them with needle nose pliers or a nut driver.

The case includes a motherboard I/O plate, however, if it does not match the motherboards port configuration, then it will have to replaced with the plate included with the motherboard. Snap out the old plate by pushing out one corner at a time. Reverse this process to install the new plate.

Now slowly guide the motherboard into the back I/O ports and rest it on the brass standoffs. Use the silver screws included to secure the motherboard onto the tray.

Proceed to install the processor, cooler, ram, and any other devices you may have.

If would like to use the front panel connections, install the extra back plate connector, and use the two remaining thumbscrews to finish fastening all add in cards.

Installing External Drives:
egin by removing the front panel by unscrewing the 6 large thumbscrews and carefully removing the acrylic cover and the metal plate behind it.

Determine the number of external 3.5" and 5.25" drives you plan to use. Then remove the respective number of front faceplates by squeezing on the sides and pulling them out. One 3.5" and one 5.25" faceplate should already be removed for convenience.

Slide the drive into the respective open slot and use the smaller black screws provided to secure it from both sides of the case.

Replace the front cover, being sure to not over tighten the front screws as the acrylic is fragile.

Installing internal hard drives:
At the bottom front of the case resides the removable internal hard drive cage. Remove it by unscrewing the 3 thumbscrews and sliding it out.

Install the hard drives (up to 5) using the silver screws provided and re-insert the hard drive rack with the three thumbscrews.

If more than 5 internal hard drives need to be installed, more can be installed in the 3.5" bays above the removable cage provided they aren't in use by other devices.

Putting everything together:
Inside the case there are cables running along the bottom which are the cabling for the front panel connections: Two internal motherboard USB ports (optional). Two pass-thru external USB ports (optional). One pass-thru external Firewire port (optional). Two pass-thru external audio ports (optional). Front panel switches and LEDs.

First detach the front panel and the internal USB port connections. Then consult your motherboard manual to determine where these should be connected. The included USB diagram can be used for reference. If your motherboard manual is inadequate, please see our online guide: http://directron.com/installusb.html.

Slide the motherboard tray back into the case and reconnect the front panel and USB port connections.

To connect the rear pass thru connections, simply thread the cables through the provided back plate cover and connect them to their respective ports, in the following order: USB, Firewire, and then audio.

Proceed to connect the power connectors, as well as any IDE and floppy cables for the drives. Be sure to connect the power connectors for the motherboard and the onboard fans as well.

Slide the side covers back on and refasten all the rear thumbscrews. Plug in all the peripheral connections and the power supply.

Assembly is now completed for your new Directron SF-201 case and it is now ready for use.
