The following advice is based on many years of experience. They are provided as a free service to our customers and visitors. However, Directron.com is not responsible for any damage as a result of following any of these advice. You are welcome to distribute these tips free to your friends and associates as long as it's not for commercial purposes.

A) To remove the side case panels, a Phillips-head screwdriver is required to remove the six screws on the back of the case. Once removed, each side case panel can be detached by pulling at the side handle.

B) Remove the items from inside of the case: a brown box containing accessories and a power supply cable.

C) To attach the case feet, align the tabs on the top of the foot with the holes in the bottom of the case. Insert the tabs and slide the foot towards the front of the case until it clicks into place.

D) Next, remove the front bezel from the main case by removing the six screws (3 from each side) from inside of the case.

E) Remove the front panel drive bay covers for each drive that will be installed. Next remove the necessary metal plates for each exposed drive that will be installed. The case comes with the first two 5.25 metal plates already removed.

F) Reattach the front bezel to the main case.

G) To install 3 ½ inch drives, remove the 3 ½ drive cage by unscrewing the two screws attaching it to the main case. Mount each drive into a corresponding drive bay. The holes in the side of the cage should match up with the drive you are trying to install. Use the m3 thread screws to attach the drive to the cage. When mounting a floppy drive, make sure that the front of the drive will be flush with the front bezel. It is recommended that a zip or exposed drive go into the top bay, a floppy drive in the second bay, and a hard drive in one of the other remaining bays.

H) Next, install any 5 ¼ inch drive by sliding the drive through the front bezel until the drive and front bezel are aligned. The holes in the side of the cage (numbered 1-7) should match up with the drive you are trying to install. Use the m3 thread screws to attach the drive to the cage.

I) When all 5 ¼ drives are properly mounted, re-attach the 3 ½ drive cage to the main case.

J) The first step in installing the ATX/micro-ATX motherboard is to remove the motherboard panel from the main case. Slide the motherboard panel gently to the left to remove it from the case frame.

K) Depending on the type of motherboard, install the necessary grounding copper screws onto the motherboard panel. Place the motherboard onto the panel and make sure that the motherboard mounting holes are properly aligned with the copper screws. Screw the motherboard to the panel using the provided 6-32 thread screws. Place a red spacer in between the screw and motherboard. Be careful not to screw too tight as it might crack and/or damage the motherboard.

L) To install the LED lights (power-on and hard drive), power switch, reset switch, and internal speaker attach the wires from the case to the motherboard. The motherboard will have pins that these wires plug into. Refer to the motherboard manual on how to properly connect these wires. Pin 1 on each pair of wire is considered to be the colored one.

M) At this time, install any expansion cards (video card, sound card, modem, etc.) into your computer. Refer to the motherboard manual and expansion card guides for more detailed installations. Use the provided screws to secure to each expansion card to the case. The brackets can be punched out to install these PCI/AGP/ISA cards.

N) Install any other hardware (CPU, memory, drive cables) at this time. Refer to the motherboard manual and component manuals for more information.

O) This case has the option to install two 80mm (8cm) fans: one intake fan and one exhaust fan. To install the intake fan, remove the plastic fan cage in the front of the case by simply pressing down on the plastic tabs nearest to the edge of the case. There will be mounting holes for the fan inside of the cage. Place the fan so that it wills intake cool air from the outside. Once mounted properly, snap the cage back onto the case. Depending on the type of fan, it will draw its power by using a 4-pin power connector or a special 3-pin connector located on the motherboard.

P) Attach the exhaust fan to the fan grill located on the backside of the case below the power supply. Place the fan so that it will blow out air from inside of the case. The fan can be screwed into place by using four tapping screws (not provided).

Q) The power supply offers three types of connectors: main power, peripheral power (4-pin), and floppy drive power. The main power connector is attached to the motherboard. The peripheral power (4-pin) is generally connected to IDE drives (ie: cd-rom). The floppy drive power connector is generally only used to power the floppy drive or zip drive. Four peripheral power connectors and two floppy drive power connectors are provided on this particular power supply.

R) To re-attach the side panels, slide it over the metal rails until it aligns with the rest of the case. Re-screw the panels to the frame. It is recommended that thumbscrews are used for easy future access.

S) Once the case has been reattached, attach the power supply cable to the outlet and ensure that the power supply switch on the back of the case is in the on position. After all other accessories are connected (monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer), push the black power button on the front bezel to turn on the computer. The white button below is the reset button.

T) Congratulations on setting up your new case!
